Formigal

The Spanish ski resort of Formigal is in the Spanish Pyrenees at an altitude of 1,510m, with 137km of marked runs.

Summary

Formigal is part of the Aramon ski area with access to 259km of downhill skiing, with 202 marked pistes, served by a total of 72 ski lifts. In addition to the skiing in Formigal itself (137km of pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Aramon ski resorts of Cerler, Javalambre, Panticosa and Valdelinares.

The ski resort itself is at 1,510m, so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible. With ski lifts as high as 2,200m, snow cover is generally reliable.

Skiing

There are a variety of pistes to suit all levels of skier ability, from Beginner to Expert.

Snowboarding

Formigal offers some good boarding and there are a variety of Snow and Terrain Parks in Formigal.

The most difficult run is the 'Tubo Superior No 66'.

How to get there

 By Air

The nearest airport to Formigal is Huesca, 96 minutes drive away.

Lourdes, Pau, Pamplona, Zaragoza, Biarritz and Lleida-Alguaire airports are all within three hours drive.

The 22 ski lifts are able to uplift 36,780 skiers and snowboarders every hour.

Snow Making

Snow-making is available, on 22km of ski runs, with 381 snow cannons.

Season Dates

When is Formigal open?

We don't currently have confirmed season dates, but hope to soon.

Usual opening is late November, and usual closing is Mid April.

NOTE:- Ski area, lift and piste opening is subject to Current Snow Conditions.

COVID-19 / Coronavirus

We don't yet have specific details of the COVID-19 precautions being taken in Formigal, but they are likely to include most of the following :-

  • Face masks required on lifts, and in shops.
  • Social distancing in public areas.
  • Reduced lift capacity.
  • Extensive disinfection / sanitization.
