Pas de la Casa To Build New Eight-Seater Chairlift & Extend Gondola

Published : 28-Jul-2026 06:47

Pas de la Casa, part of Andorra's giant Grandvalira ski area, the largest in The Pyrenees, has announced plans to replace three drag lifts with a new €12m eight-seater chairlift.

The three ski lifts being replaced all operate at the base of the ski slopes. The new detachable 8-seater chairlift should increase transport capacity by around 13% and reduce queues during peak periods.

The upgrades is part of a larger €27m spend by lift company SAETDE that will also see the line of the Pioners gondola lift extended boosting access to the resort's Abelletes sector. Following an €11.5 million spend, the gondola will up to Abelletes Lake with the plan to make this a year-round activity hub. A new mountain restaurant costing around €3.5 million will be built here.

The wider project also includes the creation of a new slope and new beginners' area at a further cost of €2.5 million.

No completion date for the upgrades has been announced.
