This weekend saw most ski resorts in New Zealand open for the season, albeit with limited terrain. However, last night saw some new snowfall.
Coronet Peak celebrated by offering the first skiers and snowboarders Mons Royale 'First On Chair' tshirts, while Mt Hutt reported 3cm of new snow on Tuesday.
Lower temperatures have helped Cardona fire up their snow cannons to top up the existing slopes. However, only limited terrain will be open until more snow arrives.
The resort confirmed on Tuesday 19 June that they are:
"Still hoping for a bit more snow before we can get the groomers onto more terrain without impacting the delicate snowpack."
