Jackson Hole ski area (JHMR) in Wyoming says it will be closed for at least five days due to power outages.
The world famous destination lost power on Tuesday night when winds gusting at up to 75mph at the ski area's summit, and at up to 159mph on Mount Coffin to the south of the resort brought down electricity cables along highway 390 between the town of Jackson and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
A statement from the ski area yesterday (Wednesday 8th February) said, "After receiving updates throughout the day from Lower Valley Energy and assessing resources in Teton Village, JHMR is unable to re-open for the weekend, and the earliest targeted open date at this time is Monday, February 13th."
Jackson Hole had also reported the most fresh snow in the world in the last week receiving 135cm (4.5 feet) , with 75cm (30 inches) of that in the past 48 hours.
