Spring conditions dominated European slopes over the last week or so... but that's changing as winter fights back today.

We'll keep it brief... heavy snow and cold air is currently (Friday morning) pushing across The Alps, with reports of 10 degree (C) drops in temperature over breakfast!

Les 2 Alpes Preview 2010 Summer Ski Season

Les 2 Alpes has announced it will open for the summer from June 16 to August 28. The ski lifts are open 7 days a week, from 7.15 am to 12.30pm for skiers and until 4.30pm for walkers and mountain bikers with fast access thanks to the "Jandri Express" cable car.

Next Generation of Ski Cross Racers Take to The Slopes

With the introduction of Ski Cross to the Olympics in Vancouver last month that talk of the Games, the next generation of ski cross racers will be tasking to the slopes of Les Arcs in the giant French Paradiski region for The GMX race on 28th March.

Intrawest Re-Finance Battle Goes On

The Fortress Investment Group LLC which owns Intrawest, which owns the leading Canadian resorts of Mont Tremblant and recent Olympic venue Whistler, is reported to have reached agreement with its creditors to extend the time it needs to refinance its debt to mid-April.

EasyJet reveals clients’ Top Ski Resort Choices

The latest booking statistics released by easyJet show that skiers are breaking the mould of the traditional Saturday to Saturday ski holiday and are travelling throughout the week, attracted by the lower fares on mid-week flights.
Skiers are looking for convenience and a short airport-resort transfer time, with figures showing the following top ten destinations for easyJet skiers this season:

Scottish Ski Areas Pass 9 Year Old Attendance Record

Scotland's five mountain ski areas have been blessed not only by lots of snow this winter, but also more customers than any winter since 2001.
Already they have passed 250,000 skier days and this is around two months before the season is expected to end. This total is 100,000 more than last season, which wasn't a bad one.

Vail Names Trail After Lindsey Vonn

Vail Resorts have honoured Olympic Champion Lindsey Vonn, who moved to the resort in the late 1990s and has now won what the resort describes as, 'Vail's first ever gold medal' by renaming a trail on Vail Mountain after Vonn.
The expert "International" trail on Vail Mountain was renamed "Lindsey's" and the new trail sign is already up to greet skiers and snowboarders.

CairnGorm Mountain Attempts World Record For Skiing in Kilts

CairnGorm Mountain ski area above Aviemore in Scotland is attempting to set a world record for the largest number of kilted skiers/boarders skiing/boarding down a piste at once. The attempt will take place on Saturday 6th March at 11am and all money raised will be split between Maggie's Highland hospice and the local Badenoch and Strathspey Schools Skiing Programme.
