New Chairlift and Four New Pistes for Samoëns

New Chairlift and Four New Pistes for Samoëns

Published : 31-Jan-2018 10:38

As part of the process of modernising the Giffre skiing area, Samoëns in the Grand Massif has added a new six-seater high speed detachable chairlift this season.

The new Doppelmayr built Coulouvrier chairlift with a capacity of 3,000 people per hour has replaced two old three-seater Poma fixed chairlifts (Lanche + Gouilles Rouges).

The lower terminal is located at the bottom of the Combe de Coulouvrier (or Echarny) at 1160m of altitude and the upper one is located at Tête des Saix at 2105m.

The new lift has enabled the creation of four new ski runs, two blue and two red pistes, supported by 70 snow-cannons. Two of the runs have opened this season, the other two will open next season.

A new hillside reservoir covering an area of 35,000 m2 has also been created close to the Lac des Gouilles for snowmaking water.

This new chairlift completes the modernisation of the resort's Tête des Saix sector, which will involve the arrival of three 6-seater detachable chairlifts and one 4-seater fixed-grip chairlift as compared with the previous 6 fixed-grip chairlifts.
