James 'Woodsy' Woods has won the first Ski Slopestyle World Cup of the season at the Winter Games NZ in Cardrona, New Zealand.
After qualifying into the finals in second place, Woodsy overcame the windy conditions to put down clean runs and take the title against a strong field. Woodsy had won the equivalent Ski Slopestyle World Cup on the slopes of Cardrona two years ago.
GB Park and Pipe Head Ski Coach Pat Sharples said after Woodsy's win:
"Conditions for the finals were really challenging. Conditions were constantly changing which seemed to catch a lot of the athletes out. Woodsy just did what he does best and was super clean on every feature with super technical tricks which were oozing with style. He smashed it."
