Fresh Easter Snowfall in the Alps
Fresh Easter Snowfall in the Alps

There's been fresh snow for Easter in the Alps, with the biggest accumulations reported in Western Austria and Eastern Switzerland so far.
More than half of ski areas have now closed for the season or will do later today so the fresh snow may be seen as an end-of-season-onus or perhaps too-little-too-late at areas that have struggled to offer good conditions during a largely dry, warm and sunny April to date.
One of the area claiming big snowfall was the Molltal Glacier in Austria where there's three weeks of the season left to run through to May 7th, it's then due to re-open in June for summer skiing, so the 30cm of fresh snow there is good news.
Andermatt in Switzerland also reported a foot of snow as did Engelberg which is also open in to May.
There has been 20cm at Arosa, one of the few Swiss areas that still reports snow at resort level.
Other resorts reporting 20cm or more of snow include Lech, Galtur and Laax.
